Missoula Hellgate beats Butte on OT buzzer beater; Frenchtown downs Butte Central

BUTTE — Beckett Arthur saved his best for last.

The Missoula Hellgate junior drained a 3-pointer in the final moments of overtime to lift the Knights to 66-65 win over Butte High on Friday evening at the Butte Civic Center in a Western AA boys basketball game.

The Bulldogs led for most of regulation, including by double digits in the second half before the Knights stormed back to force an extra quarter.

Hellgate improves to 4-1 while Butte drops to 2-3.

Josh Wade and Cayvey LaRance each had 22 points for Hellgate. Butte was led by 14 from Jake Olson, 13 from Cael Stenson and 10 from Billy Kelly.

Frenchtown 46, Butte Central 38

Devin Shelton scored a team-high 15 points and Brandon Finley chipped in with 14 as the Frenchtown Broncs held off the Maroons at the Maroon Activities Center in a Western A game.

Central's Dougie Peoples scored a game-high 16 points. The Maroons suffered a scoring drought in the second quarter where the Maroons were limited to one field goal, a triple from Peoples.
