GREAT FALLS — The University of Providence volleyball team looks to have another strong team with big names like Kelsey Shaver, Isabelle Parker and Sydney Anderson all coming back.

On Thursday, the Argos signed another potential star in the making. Lissy Willekes from Simms High School signed to play volleyball for Providence next season. Willekes played a vital part in getting the Simms volleyball team all the way to the semifinals of the State C tournament this past season.

“I’m so excited. I’ve been watching (Providence) for a while, I watched a few of their practices. I’ve gotten to play with some of them, too, so I’m really excited. They’re getting a hard worker and a quick learner,” said Willekes.

Willekes wanted to pick a college close to home so she could be near her younger sister Janessa.

“It’s nearby. My sister and I are pretty tight, I wanted to be pretty close to her and be able to support her during her senior year (at Simms),” said Willekes. “I’ve heard great things about this school, so I’m excited to try it out.”
