Providence’s Sydney Andersen, Montana Tech’s Sabrina Hopcroft named Frontier Conference players of the week

WHITEFISH — Athletes from the University of Providence, Montana Tech and Lewis-Clark State earned Frontier Conference volleyball player of the week honors, the league announced on Monday.

Sydney Andersen, a sophomore right-side hitter for the Argos, was named the league’s attacker of the week after averaging 5.13 kills and a .301 hitting percentage for Providence in its games over the weekend. The Argos swept MSU-Northern on Wednesday, with Andersen’s 14 kills a match-high. She also tallied four blocks in the win. Andersen added a game-high 27 kills in a five-set defeat at Carroll College on Saturday.

Montana Tech’s Sabrina Hopcroft earned the conference’s defender of the week honor after the Orediggers earned a road split. The former Florence-Carlton High School standout averaged 8.57 digs, including 19 in a sweep against Montana Western and a season-high 41 digs in a four-set loss at Rocky Mountain College. Hopcroft also recorded a 92 percent serving percentage with a pair of aces.

Lewis-Clark State’s Lauren West was named setter of the week after averaging 9.56 assist and 2.33 digs per set.
