LEXINGTON, KY – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Monday that Rocky Mountain College’s women’s volleyball team earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 season.

The Battlin’ Bears were among 51 teams in the NAIA to have earned the distinction for the past season. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams for success and excellence in the classroom. In order to earn the honor, a team must maintain a minimum 3.30 team GPA on a 4.0 scale.

“I am very proud of how the team performed,” said Rocky’s head volleyball coach, Yang Yang. “They are not just working hard on the court. They are working hard in the classroom.”

Rocky led the Frontier Conference with 10 academic all-conference volleyball players for the 2018-19 season.
