Eryn Ellis, Rocky Mountain College maintain leads at Frontier Championships

PHOENIX – Rocky Mountain College senior Eryn Ellis fired a 4-over-par 76 in Round 2 of the Frontier Conference women’s golf championships Tuesday, maintaining a one-shot lead heading into Wednesday’s final round.

Rocky’s team increased its lead from 17 strokes to 28 after shooting 319 Tuesday, five shots better than Monday’s total.

Ellis shot 38-38 Tuesday to beat her first round score by a shot. Lewis-Clark State’s Marissa Louder also shot 76 to stay just one shot back.

Defending Frontier Conference champion Hayden Flohr climbed into a tie for third after a second-round 80. Flohr is tied with Rocky teammates Amanda Conner and Morgan O’Neil at 164, 10 shots behind Louder.

Rocky’s Anna DeMars is sixth at 165.

The Bears are at 643 total after two rounds, with Lewis-Clark in second at 671. Montana Tech is a distant third at 730.

The final round begins Wednesday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PDT. The winning team and individual player earn automatic bids to the NAIA women’s golf championship at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Oklahoma City, May 14-17.
