WHITEFISH — Rocky Mountain College quarterback Jacob Bakken was named the Frontier Conference and NAIA national offensive player of the week after his performance in Saturday’s 48-10 win over then-No. 24 Eastern Oregon. The organizations announced the news on Monday.

Bakken, a 6-foot-4 senior from Wibaux, completed 29 of 35 passes for 423 yards and five touchdowns. He also threw one interception against the Mountaineers. The Bears’ win in La Grande, Ore. vaulted the program one spot to No. 11 in the weekly NAIA coaches polls, which were also released on Monday. Rocky, 8-2 overall and 7-2 in Frontier Conference play, hosts Montana Tech in the regular-season finale this weekend.

Rocky has already clinched at least a share of the Frontier Conference title.

College of Idaho defensive back Tristen Alesi and kicker Kyle Mitchell earned the league’s defensive and special teams player of the week honors. Mitchell was also named NAIA special teams performer of the week after connecting on a school-record 45-yard field goal in a 17-14 win over then-No. 20 Montana Western.
