Rocky Mountain College soccer teams sweep Evergreen State

BILLINGS – The Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team (13-4, 9-3 CCC) grabbed a 2-0 victory from Evergreen State (8-4-3, 5-4-3 CCC) Friday afternoon.

Rocky’s first goal came at the hands of Gregor Watson who scored off an assist from Sky Swenson in the 46th minute.

Sam Davidson would score the match’s only other goal off of Marco Kummerle in the 73rd minute.

The Battlin’ Bears out-shot the Geoducks with an 18-8 shot advantage.

Rocky will stay in Billings to play Northwest their final regular season match before the conference tournament. That action will kick off at noon on Sunday.

The Battlin’ Bears (10-5-1, 6-4-1 CCC) women’s soccer team also rolled to a 4-0 victory over the Evergreen State Geoducks (3-13, 2-9 CCC) Friday afternoon.

Mhari Smith started the match with a quick goal off an assist from Rita Marshall in the third minute.

The Geoducks trailed by one for the remainder of the first half of play.

Coming into the second half, Lauryn Gamache scored by herself in the 57th minute.

A pair of back to back goals from Hannah Borgel and Shasta Grant in the 84th minute put the Battlin’ Bears up by four as the clock began to wind down. Alexis Robbins and Gamache were credited with assists.

The Battlin’ Bears had a 28-8 shot advantage over the Geoducks with a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Rocky will host Northwest for their final regular season match on Sunday. That game will take place at 2:30 p.m at Wendy’s Field.
