Rocky Mountain College basketball teams run past Salish Kootenai

BILLINGS – In their second game of the season, the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears men’s basketball team dominated Salish Kootenai on the way to a landslide 119-50 victory.

Rocky’s lead kept increasing as the game progressed. They shot 49.5 percent from the floor with 14 of 36 from beyond the arc. The team pulled in 65 rebounds which doubled that of the Bison.

Satchel McDonald’s strong performance included 21 points, six rebounds, and seven steals.

Jared Samuelson scored 20 points and pulled in a team-high 11 rebounds.

Rocky’s depth had a chance to prove themselves as the bench scored 60 points on the night.

The Battlin’ Bears will compete in a rematch of their previous game as they play Yellowstone Christian College on Tuesday. That game will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Shrine Auditorium.

The Battlin’ Bears women also powered their way to a 98-24 victory over the Salish Kootenai Bison Friday afternoon.

Rocky started hot with a straight nine unanswered points at the beginning of the game. The Bison couldn’t keep up and never drew near the Battlin’ Bears as the lead grew further and further out of reach.

The Battlin’ Bears shot an even 50 percent from the floor. The team knocked in 7 from beyond the arc on 21 attempts.

Alyssa Big Man had a perfect night as she made everything she attempted on her way to 26 points. She was a perfect eight for eight while putting in an additional perfect eight from eight on the free throw line.

Justyn Juhl scored 12 points with seven rebounds.

The Battlin’ Bears will next travel to Pablo, Mont. on Nov. 3 to play Salish Kootenai again. That game will take place at 2 p.m.
