Rocky Mountain College wins 5-setter over MSU Billings

BILLINGS – The No. 8-ranked Rocky Mountain College volleyball team (23-3 overall, 8-0 Frontier Conference) defeated crosstown rival, MSU Billings, in a tight five-set duel on Tuesday.

The Battlin’ Bears and Yellowjackets kept the match close until the very end. Every set that the Yellowjackets won was followed immediately by a Rocky set win. The match ended in a tight fifth set with Rocky downing MSU Billings 15-12.

This is the second crosstown contest of the season. The first match in September ended similarly with the Battlin’ Bears walking away with a win after a tough five sets.

Hailey Copinga shined once again for the Battlin’ Bears as she put in yet another incredible performance. She knocked down 17 kills while adding an additional 28 digs on the night.

Daniella Russell contributed 15 kills while teammate Olivia L’Ami added an additional 13.

Natalie Hilderman once again provided key support for the Battlin’ Bears offensive firepower. She orchestrated 51 assists with an extra 18 digs to boot.

Ruby Kallenbach contributed 28 digs.

The Battlin’ Bears remain on top of the Frontier Conference as they ready to host Lewis-Clark State on Oct. 26. That match will start at 7 p.m.
