BILLINGS – The No. 8 Rocky Mountain College volleyball team (21-3, 7-0 FC) continued their streak of wins within the Frontier Conference with a 3-1 victory over rival Carroll College Friday at the Fortin Education Center.
Rocky took the first set 25-20, then took a 10-1 lead in the second. The Fighting Saints attempted a comeback, but it was more of the same story. The second set ended 25-20 in Rocky’s favor too.
Carroll was able to rally back in the third set. The two teams kept evenly paced at first until Carroll jumped ahead by five. Rocky was able to draw closer, but ultimately lost 21-25 as Carroll capitalized on their good fortune.
Rocky got back on track in the fourth set. Carroll scored first, but much like the first set, never saw the lead again. The Battlin’ Bears took the fourth set 25-21. Rocky nabbed their seventh conference win of the season.
Olivia L’Ami would lead the team in kills with 15. Hailey Copinga would knock down 14 kills of her own with 10 digs. Natalie Hilderman orchestrated 41 assists on the night. Ruby Kallenbach would secure 21 digs while Krista Judisch would pull in 16.
Rocky will turn around and play another Frontier Conference foe, Montana Western, Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
