Rocky Mountain College wins 16th straight with sweep of Montana State-Northern

BILLINGS – The No. 6 Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears swept the Montana State Northern Skylights Saturday to notch their 16th win in a row.

Rocky (16-1, 5-0) is undefeated in conference play so far and has not lost since the first day of the season on Aug. 15. The match marks the third sweep in a row for the Battlin’ Bears and the eleventh sweep on the season.

The Battlin’ Bears easily took the first set 25-8. Under Kaytlyn Heaslip serving, Rocky scored 12 points in a row and seemed in control of the pace of play the entire time. The Battlin’ Bears would finish the sweep in the final two sets with each set matching in score 25-15.

Hailey Copinga commanded Rocky’s offense with 11 kills. Miranda Gallagher contributed an additional 9 kills.

Natalie Hilderman provided 29 assists. Ruby Kallenbach supplied 16 digs on the defensive side of play.

The Battlin’ Bears will next play Lewis-Clark State on Oct. 6. That match will take place in Lewiston, Idaho at 3 p.m.
