Rocky Mountain College sweeps Montana Tech Invite

BUTTE –  Both Rocky’s men and the women’s golf programs began the fall season with a first place finish at the Montana Tech Invitational.

For the men’s team, Rocky finished three rounds with a total score of 854. The team carded 175 pars and 36 birdies over the course of the event. The Battlin’ Bears shot 289 and 279 in the first two rounds with a final round of 286.

Rocky’s HoTae Kim shot 210 to earn individual medalist honors. Kim nabbed 72 and 71 in his first two rounds, and closed the event with a 67.

Rocky’s Michael Tait placed second as he shot for 211. He carded the first two rounds with 71 and finished with a 69. A second round of 72 put Mitchell Thiessen right behind Tait in third place with a total score of 212.

For the women’s team, Rocky earned a total score of 628 in two rounds of play.  The team carded 86 pars and 18 birdies. The Battlin’ Bears shot 315 in the first round and finished round two with 313.

Rocky’s Hayden Flohr earned individual medalist honors after shooting 152. She carded two rounds with 76.

Eryn Ellis placed in third as with two rounds of 79 and 78 to earn her a total score of 157. Kaelyn Volk placed in fourth after shooting 158 and Morgan O’ Neil placed in fifth after shooting 159.

The Battlin’ Bears will travel to Great Falls, Mont. on Sept. 24 to play in the Argo Invitational.
