BELLEVUE, Neb. – The Rocky Mountain College women’s volleyball team earned a 3-2 victory over Dordt at the 2018 GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic in Bellevue, Neb.

Dordt (4-1), ranked No. 2 and the 2017 National Championship Runner-Up , could not overcome the Battlin’ Bears (8-1) streak of success.

The Battlin’ Bears took the first two sets, but the Defenders were able to climb back and snap Rocky’s streak of sweeps with wins in the third and fourth set. Only a 15-11 win in the fifth set allowed the Battlin’ Bears to secure their seventh victory in a row.

Rocky’s victory was owed in part to Natalie Hilderman who orchestrated 41 assists. Daniella Russell earned 19 kills while Olivia L’Ami added 18 of her own.

Hailey Copinga and Annie Cooke both had 18 digs.

Rocky will face off again tonight with a match against Northwestern at 6 p.m. in Bellevue, Neb. More action from the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic will continue tomorrow as the Battlin’ Bears play Morningside at 2 p.m. and tournament host Bellevue at 6 p.m.
