DILLON – It was a nerve-racking season opener for the Montana Western men’s basketball team on Saturday, but a win is a win.
Salish Kootenai was hitting from deep all game, and the up-tempo style from both teams led each to pace toward 100 points around halftime. The game went back and forth during the second half, but Western’s size proved to be a huge factor as the Bulldogs out-rebounded the Bison 38-31. Cedric Boone and company made big plays for the Bulldogs when it mattered, and Western notched a 94-89 win.
Montana Western will next head into an exhibition against Montana State on Oct. 30.
