WHITEFISH — Montana Western swept the Frontier Conference football players of the week. The league announced Jon Jund, Jason Ferris and Mark Kharchenko as its offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week on Monday.

The Bulldogs defeated Rocky Mountain College, 24-21, on Saturday to improve to 3-0 in the Frontier Conference this season.

Jund, a 6-foot, 200-pound freshman quarterback from Spring Creek, Nev., completed 22 of 35 passes for 248 yards and two interceptions. He also carried the ball 12 times for 31 yards and two touchdowns, with his second TD capping the Bulldogs’ game-winning, 80-yard drive late in the fourth quarter.

Ferris, 6-3, 215 pounds, recorded four solo tackles for Western. The junior linebacker from Dillon also had one tackle-for-loss, 13 assisted tackles and two pass break-ups.

Kharchenko, a 6-4, 180-pound sophomore kicker from Colville, Wash., won the special teams award for the second time this season. He made all three of his point-after attempts against Rocky and added a 51-yard field goal. The 51-yard kick is the second-longest in the NAIA this season.
