KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After last week’s win over Rocky Mountain College, Montana Western is now the second-highest-ranked Frontier Conference team in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The latest edition of the rankings was released Monday.

The Bulldogs, who were picked to finish seventh in the Frontier Conference preseason coaches poll, debuted at No. 22 in the national rankings. Western was not ranked last week but defeated Rocky Mountain College, which was then ranked 14th, on Saturday. The Battlin’ Bears, who fell to 2-2 with the loss, are now 23rd in the latest NAIA rankings. Western is 3-0 this season, with wins over Carroll College, Montana State-Northern and now Rocky.

Defending Frontier Conference champion Southern Oregon maintained its No. 3 ranking in the NAIA top 25. The Raiders are 3-0 after last week’s win over Montana Tech, which dropped the Orediggers one spot to No. 24 in this week’s rankings.

Saint Francis (Ind.) was the unanimous No. 1 team in the poll, receiving all 16 first-place votes. Morningside (Iowa) is ranked second, while Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Northwestern (Iowa) slide in at fourth and fifth, respectively. The top nine places in the poll went unchanged from last week.
