BUTTE – The Montana Tech women’s basketball team welcomed the 14th-ranked The Master’s University Mustangs all the way from California to Butte for an early season test.

The Diggers stayed right with the Mustangs all game long. In the first, Tech saw positive offensive production from Kaylee Zard and Mesa Williams, who combined for 49 points in the game. For the Mustangs, Stephanie Soares dominated, finishing with 19 points.

The Diggers put up a great fight, but in the end they fell 79-73. They’ll go to Pablo for their next game on Thursday against Northwest Indian College.
