Montana Tech’s Heather Thompson earns Frontier Conference honor

WHITEFISH – Montana Tech’s Heather Thompson was named the Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week. This is the first weekly award for the junior outside hitter.

The Orediggers opened the season with a 1-2 record at the tournament hosted by the Spokane Community College. Tech dropped a pair of five set matches to No. 12 Eastern Oregon and No. 8 Corban. The final match was a sweep of Multnomah University.

Thompson, originally from Lake Tapps, Wash., averaged a .520 hitting percentage in the Orediggers three matches in Spokane over the weekend. Thompson had just four hitting errors while combining for 30 kills. She averaged 2.31 kills per set.

Montana Tech hosts the third annual Big Sky Volleyball Challenge this weekend at the Butte Civic Center.
