POCATELLO, Idaho — Tyler Bourn was the lone Carroll College Fighting Saint to finish out the heptathlon’s second day of events on Saturday at the Stacy Dragila Open.

Bourn posted 4,116 points, narrowly missing the 4,150 points needed to qualify for the NAIA national meet.

“He had a good meet,” Saints coach Harry Clark said. “He ran a really good 1,000.”

Bourn posted an individual win in the heptathlon’s 1,000-meter run, running a time of 2:47.89.

“I thought he ran a really awesome 1,000,” Clark said. “That’s the hardest one to do in the whole thing. I was proud of that.”

Ky Burch pulled out of the heptathlon with an injury.

This was the last chance for the multi-event athletes to qualify during the Saints’ indoor season. Carroll’s next meet will be in Nampa, Idaho, at the Bronco Invitational.
