Carroll College’s Hannah Dean, Dane Warp named Frontier Conference players of the week

HELENA — Carroll College swept the Frontier Conference basketball player of the week awards, which were announced on Monday.

Senior forward Hannah Dean was named the league’s women’s player of the week, while junior guard Dane Warp was named the men’s player of the week.

Dean helped the Saints go 2-1 last week against top-notch competition. The Saints defeated No. 8 Westmont 59-50, No. 16 (NAIA D-II) Valley City State 69-58 and then fell to a talented (NCAA D-II) Montana State Billings team, 63-61.

Dean averaged 15 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists in the three-game outing. She shot 19-of-37 from the field and 7-of-9 from the field.

Dean is the first Carroll (4-2) player to win the award this season.

The Saints open up their conference season on Thursday against Providence at 5:30 p.m. in the PE Center.

Warp had a triple-double against Salish Kootenai on Friday when the Saints set new school records in points scored, field goals made and shooting percentage during the 151-72 win. Warp scored a career-best 45 points, had 11 rebounds and 11 assists in the win.

A night later, the junior from Havre nearly had another triple-double, scoring 28 points and adding seven rebounds and seven assists to help the Saints (9-0) to a 101-60 win over Northwest University.

For the weekend he averaged 35.6 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and two steals. He shot 30-of-39 (77 percent), including 9-of-14 from the 3-point line.

Warp is the third Saint to win this award this season.

Carroll opens up the conference season on Thursday against Providence in the PE Center.
