GREAT FALLS — The University of Providence hosted its only track and field meet of the season at Memorial Stadium on Thursday. The Carroll College women took the team title. They were highlighted by pole vaulters Mika Robinson and Kelsey Basset, who qualified for the NAIA national “B” standard at 3.55 meters and 3.5 meters, respectively.

Nikki Krueger, who celebrated her birthday on Thursday, won the women’s shot put with a mark of 13.08 meters. Fifteen Carroll College student-athletes will compete at the NAIA national meet in Gulf Shores, Ala. beginning on May 23.

Men’s team scores were not tallied in the official results, but Providence’s Zebadiah Boos won the discus and hammer throw, setting a new program record with a 46.71-meter toss in the discus. Boos will be joined by teammates Shana Cosby and Peyton Jones at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this month.

The Rocky Mountain College women saw the program’s 1,600-meter relay record go down, as Bailey Bard, Ruth Chepsat, Corinne Hamilton and Carrie Cota clocked a time of 4 minutes, 13.99 seconds in a second-place effort. Chepsat added a win in the women’s 1,500-meter run with a new personal-best time of 4:53.30.
