Providence’s Andersen, Western’s Fowler among Frontier Conference award-winners

WHITEFISH — Sydney Andersen, Dylan Fowler and Lauren West took home weekly Frontier Conference volleyball honors, the league announced Monday.

University of Providence’s Andersen was named the attacker of the week. The 6-foot-3 sophomore right side hitter averaged 3.75 kills per set with a .364 hitting percentage in the Argos’ four matches at the Big Sky Classic Tournament at Butte. Providence defeated No. 15 Eastern Oregon, Evergreen (Wash.) and Multnomah (Ore.) and lost to 24th-ranked Northwest (Wash.).

Fowler, a 5-5 libero at Montana Western, was the defender of the week. The Belgrade native averaged 6.46 digs during the Bulldogs’ four matches at the Big Sky Challenge. Western defeated Multnomah and Dickinson (N.D.) State and lost to Evergreen and Eastern Oregon.

West was named the setter of the week. The 5-7 senior from Lewis-Clark State averaged 11.20 assists and 1.60 digs per set as the Warriors finished 4-1 at the Raider Invitational hosted by Southern Oregon. L-C State defeated William Jessup (Calif.), Oregon Tech, Northwest Christian (Ore.) and Simpson (Calif.). The Warriors lost to 13th-ranked Southern Oregon.
