Carroll College’s Jaylin Kenney named academic all-American

KANSAS CITY – Carroll College outfielder Jaylin Kenney was named to the 2018 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America First-Team released Thursday by the association.

The award is nominated and voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Kenney carries a 4.0 GPA, is a double major and played both golf and softball in the spring. She played in 49 of 50 games this season for the Saints and had a team-high 179 at-bats, with a .302 batting average and a .458 slugging percentage. She also had a .974 fielding percentage with just one error on the entire season.

She is the first Carroll softball player to earn the honor.

Kenney earned CoSIDA At-Large District Team honors as a member of Carroll golf. The At-Large All-America team will be announced on June 11.
