BILLINGS – Head coach Bill Dreikosen of the Rocky Mountain College men’s basketball team announced the signing of Sam Vining to join the Battlin’ Bears program in the fall.

Vining is a 6-foot-2 guard from Great Falls, where he attends C.M. Russell High School. This past season Vining helped the Rustlers win the MHSA AA boys state championship, scoring 25 points in the championship game.

“Sam is a highly competitive player that does whatever it takes to win, and we love that about him,” Dreikosen said. “He is a good scorer and has excellent shooting ability with tremendous range. We believe in him and are excited about his future as a Battlin’ Bear.”

As a senior, Vining was named first-team all-state, first-team all-division, and he was selected to the AA all-Tournament Team. He averaged 15.7 points per game and shot 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from three.

Vining is the son of Kevin (father) and Marti (mother). He has two sisters (Haley and Hannah) and one brother (Lukas), who is also a player on the Rocky men’s basketball team.
