Rocky Mountain College men leading after Day 1 at Frontier Championships

TEMPE, Ari. – Three Rocky Mountain College golfers finished in the top six Monday after the opening round of the Frontier Conference Men’s Championships, giving the Battlin’ Bears a one-shot lead heading into the final two days.

Sophomore Michael Tait shot an ever-par 72 and sits in third place. Colton Murhpy is one shot back in fourth, while Mitchell Thiessen’s 75 has him tied with Montana Tech’s Sean Benson for sixth.

Rocky fired a 298 (+10), one better than Lewis-Clark State at 299.

Greg Jones helped Carroll College into third at 307, after firing a -2, 70 to take the individual lead. Jones made a round-high seven birdies. L-C State’s Tucker Keyes is one shot back as the only other player under par at the Karsten Golf Course on Monday.

Action resumes Tuesday morning, with the final round slated for Wednesday.
