Billings players Bushfield, Garsjo among 12 Rocky Mountain College commits

BILLINGS – The Rocky Mountain College football team has added 12 student-athletes to the 2018 signing class, Head Coach Jason Petrino announced today. This group features players from five different states at seven different positions.

This group of 12 adds to the 43 recruits that signed with Rocky in February.

Jonathan Baker will join the Battlin’ Bears from Kalispell, Montana where the 5-foot-10 running back played at Flathead High School. Baker was a first team all-conference and second team all-state recipient. He was a two-time Academic All-State selection in both football and track. Baker is the son of Bradley (father) and lists Kara Warrick as his honorary mother. He also has one brother, Bradley.

Brock Bushfield comes to Rocky from Billings where he played at Skyview High School. The 5-foot-10 defensive back was named second team all-state and first team all-conference at outside linebacker while serving as team captain for the Falcons. He is the son of Brett (father) and Cotti (mother) and he has one sister (Tylar) and one brother (Brenner).

Kyler Chan is a 6-foot-2 defensive tackle that will come to Rocky from Boise, Idaho, where he played at Mountain View High School. Chan helped Mountain View win the 2016 Idaho 5A State Championship. He is the son of Kenneth (father) and Krissy (mother) and he has one brother (Kayden).

Carter Garsjo is another Billings product that comes to Rocky after playing at Billings Senior High School. The 6-foot-1 wide receiver was an all-conference receiver in 2017 in helping the Broncs repeat as state champions. Garsjo is a three-time Academic All-State selection. He is the son of Scott (father) and Kristin (mother) and he has one sister (Kamryn).

Kaden Hagel is from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where the 5-foot-9 wide receiver played at Coeur d’Alene High School. He was a three-year varsity player and helped the Vikings to a runner-up finish in the 2017 Idaho 5A State Championships. Hagel is the son of Shane (father) and Lynette (mother) and he has four brothers (Aaron, Garrett, Seth, Joseph) and one sister (Olive).

Christian Hovey is from Olivehurst, California, where the 6-foot-3 offensive lineman played at East Nicolaus High School. Hovey is a second team all-state selection and was named all-league, all-section, all-area, and all-metro. He helped the Spartans with one state championship and three league championships. Hovey has been named to the Honor Roll and Principal’s Lis for his academic success. He is the son of Gregory (father) and Karen (mother) and he has one brother (Robert).

Chad LaRose joins the Battlin’ Bears from Victor, Idaho, where the 6-foot-4 defensive end played at Teton High School. He was an all-state selection at defensive line as a senior and earned all-conference honors at both offensive and defensive line as a junior and a senior. LaRose is the son of Lane (father) and Dusty (mother) and he has two brothers (Trevor, Garrett) and one sister (Gracey).

Michael Lee is from Kalispell, Montana, where the 6-foot-4 defensive tackle played at Flathead High School. He was a first team all-state and all-conference selection as a senior and was selected to play in the MonDak and Shriners games. Lee was an academic all-state selection during his junior year. He is the son of Kenneth (father) and Adrienne (mother) and has one brother (Chad) and one sister (Meranda).

Beau St.John comes to Rocky from Rosalia, Washington, where the 6-foot-4 offensive lineman played at Liberty High School. He was chosen as first team all-state at offensive line and second team all-state at defensive line as a senior. St.John was also a first team all-league recipient at both position this past season. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Honor Roll during all of his high school career. St.John is the son of Dave (father) and Cathy (mother) and he has one brother (Zach) and one sister (Maddy).

Raegan Stephenson joins the Battlin’ Bears from Jenks, Oklahoma, where the 5-foot-10 defensive tackles played at Jenks High School. Stephenson played a role in Jenks winning one state championship and two district championships during his time. He was named all-district at defensive tackle as a senior. Stephenson is a Principal’s Honor Roll selection. He is the son of Lance (father) and Karen (mother) and he has two sisters (Elle, Lilly).

Isaiah Tennell will join Rocky from La Puente, California, where the 6-foot linebacker attends Nogales High School. He was named All-CIF and second team all-area while being named the league defensive MVP. He is the son of Kathleen (mother) and he has one brother (Darius).

Spencer Weisel comes to Rocky from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where the 6-foot-1 offensive lineman played at Coeur d’Alene High School. In helping the Vikings to a runner-up finish in the 2017 Idaho 5A State Championships, Weisel was an all-league selection while serving as team captain. He is on the Honor Roll and is a Renaissance Student. Weisel is the son of John (father) and April (mother) and he has one brother (Parker).

The Battlin’ Bears are in the middle of spring camp and will return to the practice field on Thursday at 5 p.m. They have seven practices remaining before the 2018 spring football game on April 21 at Herb Klindt Field starting at 1 p.m.
