GREAT FALLS – The University of Providence Lady Argos team had its last practice on Monday before heading down to Billings for the NAIA tournament. The team is a No. 7 seed going in and will play No. 2 seed and defending champion Oklahoma City University at 2:15 p.m. Thursday.

This is the third time the Lady Argos have made the national tournament in school history. Back in 2015, the team made it to the Elite 8. Providence is coming off a close loss in the Frontier Conference Tournament to Lewis-Clark State. With every game a win-or-go-home situation now, the team looks to turn things around on Thursday.

“I think we go into it like we go into every game — going in to win and going in to play hard and doing things we can control,” said Providence senior Stephanie McDonagh. “Defense, boxing out, taking care of the ball, I think those are going to be huge things in this game.”

“We really talked about just focusing on the moment that you’re in. We want to win each individual possession and each individual moment and let the big picture take care of itself,” said head coach Bill Himmelberg. “If you do the little things and win each individual possession and enjoy every moment you’re there, enjoy the first day you’re there, enjoy every time you’re there, because getting to the national tournament is hard and winning is hard. So every time you win and get to the national tournament, you need to enjoy every bit of it.”
