HAVRE — Hannah Dean and Michaela Dowdy dominated the interior to help the Carroll College women’s basketball team to a 47-40 win at Montana State-Northern on Friday.

Dean and Dowdy combined to score 34 points, on 14-of-25 shooting, and grab 19 rebounds for the Saints, who improved to 20-6 overall and 12-3 in the Frontier Conference with the win. Northern got an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double from Tiara Gilham in the loss.

Carroll led a close game much of the way, growing a 19-15 halftime advantage to a lead as large as 12 points late in the third quarter.

Neither team shot particularly well with the Saints making 18 of 46 field goal attempts, including a 0-for-4 mark from 3-point range, and the Skylights making 15 of 50 field goal attempts. Northern made three of 17 3-point attempts and seven of 14 free throws.

Carroll can clinch at least a share of the Frontier Conference regular-season title with one more win. The Saints are at Providence on Saturday, while the Skylights (10-16 overall, 2-13 conference) host Rocky Mountain College.
