OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – No. 2 Tatum Sparks will wrestle for a National Championship on Day 2 of the 2018 WCWA National Championship Tournament after a dominant Day 1 for the junior the first trip to nationals for No. 14 University of Providence women’s wrestling. UP ends the day ranked 15th in the country with 36 points
Sparks is already a two-time All-American, finishing 6th and 8th while at Southwestern Oregon Community College, but she reached a new level as a Lady Argo. She wrestled four matches on the way to the 1st place match and has yet to give up a point, winning three bouts by 10-0 technical superiority, and the fourth with a pin. She will face No. 1 Niauni Hill in the finals on Saturday.
Of the six Lady Argos to wrestle at nationals, five won at least one match. Freshman Kassidy Sigda was the only to win more than one, earning a 10-0 (1:39) technical superiority in the first round and winning by Fall (1:13) in the first round of 16 in the consolation bracket.
Sparks in the only UP wrestler left in the tournament.
