6 Rocky Mountain College score double figures in win over YCC

BILLINGS – Six players scored in double figures as the Rocky Mountain College men’s basketball team cruised to a 107-50 win over Yellowstone Christian College on Monday night in the Fortin Education Center.

Rocky (15-9) shot 56.0 percent from the floor and had a 70-12 advantage in points in the paint. They totaled 35 fast break points and added 25 points from 19 offensive rebounds.

Chad Kananen made five 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 15 points in 11 minutes off the bench.

Grant Wallace tied a career high with 14 points while collecting a career-best 13 rebounds for his first career double-double. He grabbed seven of those boards at the offensive end and added two assists and one steal.

Yellowstone Christian finished the game shooting 31.7 percent from the field. They committed 27 turnovers that resulted in 40 Rocky points.

Latrelle Franklin added 13 points, four assists and three steals for the Battlin’ Bears.

Rocky totaled 28 assists against 12 turnovers and they posted a season-high 20 steals.

Fabricio Daher Valdivia led the Centurions with 20 points while hitting 6 of 12 from beyond the arc.

The Battlin’ Bears will now get back into Frontier Conference play where they have four of their final six games at home. That stretch of games begins on Friday when No. 14 Carroll comes to the Fortin Center for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
