University of Providence’s Shonn Roberts was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference’s Red Lion wrestler of the week Monday.
Roberts, a sophomore from Columbia Falls, was moved up from 149 to 157 pounds to accommodate some seniors on the Argos’ Senior Night dual against No. 14 Embry-Riddle. Not only did Roberts wrestle up a weight class, but he wrestled a returning all-American, seventh-ranked James Williams.
Roberts trailed for most of the match, but in the final 15 seconds he got a big takedown and turned it into a pin with just four seconds left on the clock. The 2017 Gorrarian Award winner at nationals now has 10 pins in 27 matches in 2017-18.
