BUTTE — The Montana Tech Orediggers have played in a number of close games this season, but often have come out on the losing end. Thanks to a late 3-pointer from Jake Miles, the Orediggers emerged with a 68-66 Frontier Conference men’s basketball win over No. 19 Lewis and Clark State on Friday.

Miles’ 3 gave him a team-high 17 points, which also tied a game high. The Orediggers went into halftime with a slim 34-30 lead, and the two squads went back and forth in the final 20 minutes. Tech was able to shoot an efficient 48 percent from the field in the second half, and turned the ball over only 11 times on the night. John Chapman poured in 16 points for Tech.

The win is the team’s second over a ranked opponent in as many weeks, as the Orediggers improve to 3-9 in conference play. With six games to play in the conference season, Tech has already tripled its conference win total from last season.

The Diggers will hit the road next to take on Carroll College on Feb. 7.
