KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Frontier Conference team dropped out of the NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, but another one took its place.
The Montana Western women returned to the top 25, replacing Lewis-Clark State, the defending national runner-up, in the latest poll, which was released Tuesday. The Bulldogs have won five consecutive games to earn back the No. 24 ranking. They’ve been as high as 10th this season, but lost three consecutive games to drop out of the rankings.
Carroll College is the highest-ranked Frontier Conference team in the poll, sitting at No. 13. The 15-6 Saints slipped from their previous ranking of 10th, but still sit two spots ahead of Rocky Mountain College, which defeated Carroll on Saturday. At No. 15, the 17-3 Battlin’ Bears have the highest ranking in program history.
The University of Providence (16-5) is also ranked in the top 25. The Argos are 19th in the latest poll.
Carroll, Rocky and Providence are currently tied atop the Frontier Conference standings with 7-3 league records. Western sits fourth at 6-4 and L-C State is fifth at 4-6.
Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) held on to the No. 1 ranking, receiving all nine first-place votes. Shawnee State (Ohio), Campbellsville (Ky.), Oklahoma City and MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) round out the top five.
