Rocky Mountain College men third, women fourth in South Dakota

SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Rocky Mountain College track & field team returned to action on Saturday at the Dave Little Alumni Mile. The event was hosted by Black Hills State University.

The Rocky men’s team finished third after scoring 82 points over the 14 events. The women’s team scored 63 points to finish fourth.

The Rocky men had three runners qualify for the finals of the 60 Meter Dash. Brenden Leaming would finish third after his time of 7.21 seconds in the finals. Justus Whitmire went 7.41 seconds to place sixth and John Bass was seventh in 7.79 seconds.

Leaming finished the men’s 200 Meter Dash in 23.77 seconds to place fifth while Bass was ninth in 24.12 seconds.

Whitmire notched an eighth-place finish in the men’s 400 Meter Dash after finishing the race in 52.98 seconds. Colton Wheeler was 10th in the 400 behind his 54.73 seconds.

George Beddow was sixth in the men’s 800 Meter with his time of 2:04.54. Gino Giovagnoli finished in 2:04.84 to place seventh.

Isaac Petsch led two Battlin’ Bears to score points in the men’ Mile by placing third with a time of 4:21.97. Shane Ketchum finished in 4:32.86 to place sixth.

Jackson Duffey finished second in the men’s 5,000 Meter Run after finishing the race of 16:07.21. Eddie Loughran was seventh in 17:27.38 and Logan Clements was eighth in 17:28.30.

Derrick Olsen went 8.92 seconds in the men’s 60 Meter Hurdles to place second.

In the men’s 4 x 400 Meter Relay, Rocky’s team of Whitmire, Olsen, Giovagnoli and Leaming finished in fourth after posting a time of 3:32.73.

Sawyer Silliker was seventh in the men’s high jump with a height of 1.75 meters. Markaele Moses placed second in the men’s long jump at 6.05 meters. Rily Livingston was third at 5.62 meters and Chris Wright was fourth at 5.61 meters.

Morgan Lucas and Alissia Comstock competed in the women’s 60 Meter Dash and placed third and fifth respectively. Lucas finished the race in 8.49 seconds while Comstock went 9.07 seconds.

Jaylen Henderson finished sixth in the women’s 200 Meter Dash after a time of 31.59 seconds.

Emily Browne completed the women’s 400 Meter Dash in 1:19.24 to place fifth. She also finished sixth in the women’s Triple Jump with a distance of 8.94 meters.

In the women’s 800 Meter Run, Rita Marshall led a Rocky contingent of five runners with her eighth-place finish after a time of 2:38.51. Carrie Cota finished ninth with a time of 2:45.53.

Guan-Yi Stevens ran the women’s 800 Meter and the women’s Mile. She was 11th in the 800 at 3:00.36 and her 6:35.24 in the Mile placed her seventh.

Courtney Hallock finished the women’s 5,000 Meter Run in 20:24.59 to place sixth. Mei-Li Stevens was 11th in the same race after her time of 22:03.51.

Cota would finish sixth in the women’s 60 Meter Hurdles in 10.72 seconds. Rayna Laakso was seventh in 10.73 seconds. Laakso added a sixth-place finish in the women’s High Jump by clearing 1.47 meters.

Rocky’s women’s 4 x 400 Meter Relay team of Bailey Bard, Corinne Hamilton, Morgan Lucas and Cota finished third with a time of 4:38.34.

Comstock and Cota placed third and fourth in the women’s Long Jump with marks of 4.26 meters and 4.00 meters respectively. Laasko added a fifth in the women’s Shot Put with her distance of 8.73 meters.

Jordyn Walter hit 7.29 meters in the women’s Shot Put to place sixth. She placed fourth in the Weight Throw with a distance of 939 meters.
