LEWISTON, Idaho — Lewis-Clark State College earned a crucial pair of Frontier Conference wins on Thursday night, dropping MSU-Northern 77-61 in the women’s game and 77-68 in the men’s contest.
LCSC overcame 20 points and five rebounds from Shiloh McCormick, who paced the Skylights (9-7, 1-4). Peyton Filius added 15 points on four 3-pointers and Jacy Thompson had 11 points and seven assists. Tiara Gilham had a team-high eight rebounds for MSUN.
Jossilyn Blackman led a balanced Warrior attack with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Chris Mouat and the MSU-Northern women, ranked No. 21 during the last NAIA coaches poll, have dropped three straight conference games. The Skylights travel to Montana Tech on Saturday.
The nightcap saw the MSU-Northern men take a 35-30 lead into the halftime locker room, but LCSC outscored the Lights 47-33 in the second half.
Caulin Bakalarski, the Frontier Conference player of the week, led Northern with 14 points. Ryan Reeves added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds in the loss. Northern (13-4, 3-2) made nine of 23 3-point field goals in the contest. The Lights look to bounce back at Montana Tech on Saturday evening.
Race Martin had a game-high 26 points on 9-of-11 shooting for L-C State.
