BUTTE — Both games were close, but the Carroll College Saints men and women left Butte with a pair of road wins over Montana Tech on Thursday.

The second-ranked Carroll men struggled with Montana Tech’s defensive pressure, leading to a low-scoring battle between the Frontier Conference foes. The Saints clung to a slim 25-20 lead at the half and found their rhythm from the field in the second half to pull away with a 56-41 win. Carroll shot 11 of 24 (46 percent) from the floor in the second half, while the Orediggers shot just 10 of 33 (30 percent). Montana Tech is now 0-4 in conference play, while the Saints improve to 4-2.

The women’s game was close throughout, but the Saints were able to come away with a 63-55 win. The two teams were tied at 44 apiece entering the final quarter, but Carroll was able to hold off the Orediggers. Bailey Pasta led the Saints with 14 points, while Monica Landdeck held down the Diggers with 14 points.

The two teams will meet again on Jan. 25 in Helena.
