University of Providence's Zaccheus Darko-Kelly, Parker Esary net weekly hoops honors

WHITEFISH -- University of Providence basketball players Zaccheus Darko-Kelly and Parker Esary were named the Frontier Conference men's and women's basketball players of the week, respectively, the league announced on Monday.

Darko-Kelly is a 6-foot-6 junior forward who paced Providence to a 2-0 mark over the weekend. He averaged 26 points, 11.5 rebounds, 9.5 assists and two steals per game in victories over Rocky Mountain College (88-79) and Montana Western (100-85). Against the Battlin' Bears, Darko-Kelly had 31 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, a performance he followed up with his first career triple-double against the Bulldogs -- 21 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

He made 22 of 38 field goals and had a pair of steals in each win.

Darko-Kelly and the Argos are set for a top-15 showdown at Lewis-Clark State College on Thursday, before a road game at Montana Tech on Saturday.

Esary, a 6-foot-1 junior post, led the Argo women to a 1-1 mark in Frontier Conference play, falling to Rocky on the road (75-66) and defeating MSU-Northern in the Electric City (84-67).

The Kalama, Wash. native averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in the split, making an astounding 17 of 18 field goals and hitting a 5-for-7 performance at the free throw line.
