CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The University of Providence women's wrestling program was selected third in the Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason women's wrestling poll, which was announced on Tuesday. The Argos were ranked behind reigning league champion Menlo and Southern Oregon University.
League coaches voted in the annual preseason coaches' poll, which ranked the top eight programs based on the total votes. Menlo received seven of the eight first-place votes after winning last year's conference championship with six individual titles. Southern Oregon received the other first-place vote.
Providence placed third at the conference championships last season, with Iverly Navarro and Tatum Sparks winning conference crowns. Sparks was a redshirt senior last year, but Navarro returns for her senior campaign. Last year's second NAIA Women's Wrestling Invitational was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
UP and Great Falls will host this year's Cascade Collegiate Conference women's wrestling tournament, with the event scheduled for Feb. 28, 2021.
