A pair of University of Providence student-athletes earned player of the week recognition in their respective sports and conferences on Monday.
The Argos' volleyball team split over the weekend, leading to senior outside hitter Kelsey Shaver's Frontier Conference attacker of the week honor. Shaver, a 5-foot-9 hitter from Scotts Valley, Calif. averaged 5.33 kills and 5.85 digs per set. She also recorded a .329 attack percentage in a loss to No. 16 Rocky and straight-set win over Montana Western.
Ole Cloppenburg collected the Cascade Collegiate Conference's men's soccer defensive player of the week nod. Cloppenburg, a senior midfielder from Melbeck, Germany, played strong on the Argos' back line and netted the game-winning goal against Eastern Oregon.
