University of Providence men's hockey adds Colorado state champion

GREAT FALLS -- The University of Providence men's hockey team announced the signing of Liam Carvalho Thursday afternoon.

Carvalho is from Monarch High School in Boulder, Colo. As a senior, he scored 19 goals, the most on his team, and also recorded 15 assists. He was named second-team all-conference and selected to Team Colorado for America's Showcase. He led his team to a second-place finish at Nationals.

As a junior he led his team to a Colorado State Championship.

"We are thrilled to have Liam joining our team at an exciting time in our program," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "Not only will he add to a growing culture of excellence on the ice, but also in the classroom and the community."

Carvalho was named academic all-state his junior and senior years, and was also named to the Dean's List all four years. He plans to study medical biology at Providence.
