University of Providence athletes sweep Frontier Conference basketball honors

WHITEFISH -- The University of Providence swept the Frontier Conference basketball player of the week awards, the league announced Monday.

Brandon Cotton, a 5-foot-19 senior guard, earned the men's honor after averaging 18.5 points, three rebounds, six assists and 1.5 steals over the Argos' two games against NCAA Division II schools. UP defeated No. 12 Dixie State 80-76 and lost to Westminster College 73-70. Cotton made 14 of his 37 field goal attempts, but he was 7 of 15 from 3-point range.

Emilee Maldonado was the women's award. The 5-5 junior guard helped 17th-ranked Providence to an 86-63 win over No. 14 Corban University. She scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and added two rebounds, eight assists and one steal.
