BUTTE — The long wait was worth it for the Montana Tech volleyball squad.

Karina Mickelson and Maureen Jessop each leveled 11 kills and Hannah Oggerino had 18 digs as the Orediggers swept past MSU-Northern 27-25, 25-14, 25-13 on Friday evening at the HPER Complex in the first match of a two-day doubleheader.

It was Tech's (1-2 overall, 1-2 in the Frontier Conference) first home match since sweeping Lewis-Clark State on Nov. 9, 2019. It was also the Orediggers' first win of the 2020 spring season after being swept by Rocky Mountain College last week.

Taylor Henley added 10 kills for Tech and Oggerino also had a pair of service aces. McKenna Kaelber supplied a match-high 29 assists.

The Skylights (1-2, 1-2) were led by a match-high 13 kills from Rylee Burmester and 19 assists from Emily Feller.

Tech and Northern will conclude their doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
