BILLINGS -- The Rocky Mountain College women defeated MSU Billings in an exhibition soccer match Friday at Herb Klindt Field. The Rocky and MSUB men battled to a 1-1 draw.

In the women's match, Lauryn Gamache, Amber Pearson and Hannah Borgel each netted goals for the Battlin' Bears. Borgel's goal came in the 17th minute to give Rocky a 1-0 lead that the team would carry into halftime.

Pearson, in the 51st minute, and Gamache, in the 53rd, added two more quick goals in the second half to give the Bears a 3-0 advantage.

Julia Keller put MSUB on the board with a goal in the 80th minute.

Neither men's team was able to generate any offense in the first half of their exhibition, as the teams took a scoreless draw into intermission. Rocky got on the board first in the second half, though, with Pablo Ferreira finding the back of the net in the 62nd minute.

MSUB answered just minutes later when Noah Runsvold knotted the game on an assist from Theo Lamare in the 70th minute. The match would end in a 1-1 draw.

The Rocky men and women open up their seasons on Aug. 29 with matches against Hope International University in Fullerton, Calif.

MSU Billings, meanwhile, has a few more exhibition contests ahead before their season openers. The men play California State University, San Bernardino in Burnaby, B.C., Canada, on Sept. 5, and the women are at Westminster College in Salt Lake City on Sept. 7.
