Rocky Mountain College soccer teams earn Homecoming sweep

BILLINGS – Opening up conference play for the 2019 season, Rocky Mountain College defeated the Multnomah Lions 3-0 Friday afternoon.

The Battlin' Bears (4-1, 1-0 CCC) held a blistering 37-1 shot advantage over the Lions (1-3, 0-1 CCC). Despite Rocky's offensive advantage, Multnomah's goalkeeper Trisha Priest held the Battlin' Bears to only three goals with 18 saves.

Hailey Nicholson scored her first goal as a Battlin' Bear in the 19th minute with an assist from Alexis Robbins. Nicholson scored again on a penalty kick in the 46th minute.

In the 66th minute, Madison Browne powered a header into the back of the net off a pass from Hannah Borgel for the final point of the game. Rocky Mountain College held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Battlin' Bears will next play Warner Pacific University on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Rocky's 25th-ranked men blasted the Multnomah University Lions 14-1.

Playing through a storm and wet field conditions, the Battlin' Bears' (2-2, 1-0 CCC) scoring frenzy started early when Sam Davidson scored off an assist from Marco Kummerle in the 6th minute.

Six Battlin' Bears found the back of the net by the end of the game. Rocky was led by Pablo Ferreira's five goals which included two in the final two minutes. Marco Kummerle ended the day with three goals and an assist. Sam Davidson had two goals and an assist. Sky Swenson, Nolan Sherwood, and Milo Downey each recorded a goal and an assist.

Multnomah's (0-6, 0-1 CCC) lone goal came in the 69th minute when Jason Monterosso booted a ball off of Rocky's outstretched Ryan Cornwall into the back of the net.

The Battlin' Bears held a 44-1 shot advantage and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Multnomah's Jose David Lopez ended the game with 14 goals allowed and 12 saves.

Rocky will next play Warner Pacific on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
