Rocky Mountain College men ranked 2nd, women 3rd in conference preseason soccer polls

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Rocky Mountain College men's and women's soccer teams figure to be in the mix for Cascade Collegiate Conference championships when the teams take to the pitch next spring.

The Rocky men were picked second and the Rocky women in a tie for third in the CCC coaches' preseason polls, which were released this week. Rocky's men went 12-5 last year, and the women were 14-5-3.

Corban, the reigning conference champion after posting a 17-0-3 record last season, topped the men's poll, while Eastern Oregon, which went 16-3-4 during a historic 2019 campaign, is the top-ranked women's team.

The men's poll is continued with Southern Oregon at third, Eastern Oregon at fourth, Oregon Tech at fifth and University of Providence at sixth. Northwest University, The Evergreen State College, Carroll College and Warner Pacific are seventh, eight, ninth and 10th, respectively. College of Idaho, Bushnell, Walla Walla and Multnomah finish out the men's rankings.

Following top-ranked Eastern Oregon in the women's poll is Oregon Tech at No. 2. Northwest University tied with Rocky at third, and Southern Oregon rounded out the top five. College of Idaho, Corban, Carroll, Providence and Warner Pacific are sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively. The women's rankings are completed by Evergreen State, Bushnell and Multnomah.

This year’s soccer season start was delayed until the spring, with the conference championship tournament being held April 7, 8, and 10 in Springfield, Ore. The CCC previously unveiled its conference schedules with the first matches slated for mid-February.

The NAIA women's soccer national tournament is scheduled for April 27-May 3 at Foley, Ala., and the men's national tournament will be May 4-10. The men's tournament is expected to be played at Blanchard Woods Park at Columbia County, Ga.

The CCC men's and women's soccer coaches' preseason polls are below. The NAIA national preseason polls are expected to be released Nov. 25.
