Rocky Mountain College cross country impresses at Montana Open

MISSOULA - Both Rocky Mountain College cross country teams finished second behind the host Montana Grizzlies at the Montana Open Friday, beating every other NAIA school in the fields.

On the men's side, Jackson Duffey finished in fourth individually to help the team to a score of 45. Only three unattached runners finished ahead of Duffey, whose first place score came in a time of 25:36.80.

Ruth Chepsat led the Battlin' Bears women with a time of 18:33.90 in the 5K race, good for seventh. Sydney Little Light finished in 13th overall and tenth among qualified runners with a time of 19:15.30. Rocky finished with a team score of 63.

Rocky will compete next in Lewiston, Idaho Oct. 12 for the Inland Empire Invite, hosted by Lewis-Clark State.
