Providence volleyball outlasts Rocky Mountain College in home opener

GREAT FALLS — The University of Providence volleyball team returned to the McLaughlin Center in style with a five-set win over Rocky Mountain College on Friday.

Providence controlled most of the first set, but it collapsed and Rocky took a 26-24 win. The Argos responded with back-to-back 25-23 wins to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Rocky won the fourth set 25-14, but UP held strong in the fifth to win 15-10.

Freshman Sadie Lott led the Argos with 20 kills and six blocks. Isaura Santos recorded two aces. Cydney Finberg-Roberts had a match-high 57 assists, and Sacha Legros tallied 49 digs.

For Rocky, Morgan Allen and Weiying Wu each had 12 kills. Wu also had six blocks. Monique Rodriguez had three aces. Natalie Hilderman had 41 assists, and Ayla Embry recorded 42 digs.

Providence improves to 2-1, while Rocky falls to 2-1. The teams will square off again on Saturday.
