Providence basketball sweeps MSU-Northern on Lights' second night of back-to-back

HAVRE — The University of Providence basketball teams swept Montana State University-Northern in Frontier Conference action on Thursday. It was the second night of a back-to-back for Northern.

The Providence women won 53-41 after seeing a 19-point halftime lead shrink to just eight midway through the fourth quarter.

Parker Esary had 18 points to lead the Argos, while Emilee Maldonado added 15. Hailey Nicholson scored 15 for Northern.

Providence improves to 12-7 overall, 3-4 in Frontier Conference play. Northern falls to 15-5, 4-4.

The Providence men completed the sweep with a 66-61 win, holding off a furious second-half comeback bid from Northern. Zaccheus Darko-Kelly scored 20 for Providence and Jaxen Hashley scored 15. Kavon Bey scored 14 to lead the Lights.

Providence improves to 17-2, 5-2. Northern falls to 12-8, 2-6.
