LA GRANDE, Ore. -- MSU-Northern junior wrestler Isaac Bartel was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference wrestler of the week, the league announced on Monday. Bartel earned four wins over the weekend.
The 197-pound junior from Mason City, Iowa, was impressive over the weekend, defeating University of Providence's John Hensley 2-0 during last week's dual with the Argos. Hensley is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA, while Bartel is No. 2.
Bartel and MSUN then traveled to the Northwest Open, where last year's all-American pinned the top-ranked NJCAA wrestler, Zane Scott, by pinfall at 1:52. After an 8-2 decision win against Tucker Tomlinson in the semifinals, Bartel defeated Majid Muratov with a 14-0 score to earn the 197-pound title.
Teammate Chase Short (174) also won a Northwest Trapper Open title, while Robert Pair (125), Nick Kunz (133) and Ethan Roetman (184) finished runner-up. Carl Hansen (184) placed third.
University of Providence wrestling placed five in the top five in Wyoming, with Jarren Komac (141) placing second. Clayton Gilliam (125), Josh Johnson (165) and KC Buday (285) were all third, while Alex Quick (174) placed fourth.

Robert Pair- 125 - Second Place- Rob started off with a bye. His first opponent was Trinidad Ruiz, which he beat by a Dec 5-2. Rob beat Dawson Barfuss in the semifinals by a Fall 5:54. In the Finals, Rob lost in a Dec 9-3 by Isaac Lopez.
Nick Kunz- 133 – Second Place – Nick had a bye his first round. Nick beat his first opponent by a Fall 2:18, which was Drake Buechler. He won his third round by a Dec 9-2 against Bryce Miller in the semifinals. In the finals, Nick lost against Van Bray by a Dec 6-4.
Carl Cronin- 133- Fourth Place- Carl had a Bye his first round. In his second round, he lost to Clayton Gilliam by a TF 17-2. Cronin had another bye for this third round. In the fourth round, Carl beat William Fish by a Fall 1:20. Carl beat Bryce Miller by a Maj 10-0 to make it to the consolation round. He lost against Clayton Gilliam by a TF 17-0.
Lane Paulson- 149- Lane had a bye in his first round. In his second round, he lost to Salvador Silva by a Fall 4:04. The next round he lost against Justin Gibson by a Fall 1:19.
Dylan Veis- 149- Dylan beat his opponent in his first round, which was Justin Gibson by a Dec 9-2. He lost his second round to Zac Musselman by a Maj 9-1. Dylan had a bye in his third round. He lost in his fourth round to Cameron Metcalf to a Dec 7-4.
Caden Hilliard- 157- Caden had a bye in his first round. He lost in his second round to Trevor Clark by a Dec 5-0. He had another by his third round. In the fourth round, he lost to Jackson Currier by a Dec 6-3.
Chase Short- 174- First Place- Chase beat Micah Heide in his first round by a TF 19-2. In the semifinals, he beat Alan Badley by a TF 18-1. Chase beat Jared Bird by a Dec 9-4 in the finals to take first place.
Carl Hansen- 184- Third Place- Carl started off his first round with a bye. He won his second round against Jace Anderson by a Dec 9-7. He lost in the semifinals against Andrew Nicholson by a Fall 2:27. Carl beat Elijah Wyatt by a Dec 10-4. He beat Isaac Gomez in the consolation round by a Fall 1:09.
Cody Golding- 184- Cody lost in his first round against Tyson Carter by a Dec 11-5. He had a bye in the second. In the third round, Cody lost against Porter Fox by a Dec 11-4.
