MSU-Northern ends season with loss at No. 6 College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho -- No. 6 College of Idaho secured an unbeaten regular season with a 44-20 Frontier Conference football win over Montana State-Northern on Saturday.

COI built a 27-0 lead in the second quarter before MSU-Northern was able to get on the board. Brenden Medina hit Bryce Bumgardner for a 22-yard touchdown for the Lights' first point of the game midway through the second. The duo hooked up for another touchdown, a 28-yarder, in the third quarter, and Jett Robertson added a 2-yard scoring run for the Lights in the fourth.

Justin Hellyer had a big game for the Coyotes, carrying the ball 29 times for 207 yards and a touhdown. Darius Peterson added 93 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He added 94 yards passing on six completions.

Robertson finished with 95 yards and the one touchdown on 21 carries for Northern. Medina was 12-of-24 passing for 218 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Northern ends its season with a 1-10 overall record, including an 0-10 mark in the Frontier Conference.

College of Idaho finished its Frontier Conference schedule a perfect 10-0. The Yotes will begin play in the NAIA national playoffs on Nov. 23.
